The save the date asset for the NRS MSK event in November, all details below.

On behalf of Mr Nick Clement, NRS Orthopaedic lead, we would like to welcome you to Edinburgh in November. This NRS MSK meeting is an opportunity to bring together orthopaedic clinicians, academics, trainees, and research partners from across Scotland to share current work, inspire collaboration, and explore future priorities for orthopaedic research within the NRS framework.

Registration is open from 09:00 where teas and coffees will be provided before we start the sessions at 09:30. Registration for the event is free and any access requirements or dietary requirements for lunch can be included in the registration details.

The Scottish Society for Rheumatology Autumn Meeting will take place on Thursday 6 and Friday 7 November 2025, at the Stirling Court Hotel.

The first in-person meeting of the Research Network has been scheduled to coincide with the morning of the first day of the Autumn Scottish Society for Rheumatology (SSR) meeting. To allow some members to attend the BIGOS meeting the research meeting has been scheduled to start at 9.30am on Thursday 6 November at the Stirling Court Hotel.

The programme for the meeting is:

  • Scottish Orthopaedic Research Network — Mr Nick Clement, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, NHS Lothian
  • Plans for Paediatric Rheumatology Research Network — Dr Eve Smith, Clinical Senior Lecturer in Paediatric Rheumatology, University of Glasgow
  • National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) MSK-Translational Research Collaboration — Professor Stefan Siebert, Professor of Inflammation Medicine and Rheumatology, University of Glasgow

There will also be time to allow discussion about future network activities and other ways it might support rheumatology research in Scotland.

There is no cost to attend the research meeting but you must also register for the main SSR meeting if you’re planning to stay for the rest of the meeting.

Principal Investigator Pipeline Programme: Scottish Cohort 2 Show more Show less

Applications are now open for the NIHR Principal Investigator Pipeline Programme (PIPP) Scottish Cohort 2, which is now open to allied health professionals, as well as research delivery nurses, midwives and dental nurses.

The NIHR PIPP offers research delivery nurses, midwives and allied health professionals (NMAHP) the opportunity to develop as Principal Investigators on NIHR portfolio studies. The programme is expected to take 12 to 18 months and consists of live virtual lessons, online learning and hands-on experience.
